WTA Shenzhen – Rybakina v Wang

Elena Rybakina 1.95, Yafan Wang 2.04

Due to start at 8 am

This will be their first meeting.

Much stronger results for Rybakina last season. She won 73% of her matches. She won 67% of hard court matches. Wang won 54%.

Wang reached the semi finals last season. She ended 2019 quite well with a semi final in Seoul, quarter final in Tianjin and a semi final in an ITF hard court tournament in October. She started slowly in the last round and lost the 1st set 6-1 to Sorribes Tormo. She fought back well to win in 3.

Rybakina ended the season in excellent form on hard courts and indoor hard courts. As expected she needed 3 sets to beat Saisai Zheng in her last match. Her serve looked vulnerable at times though she was broken just 4 times in 3 sets.

This could be a great match. We have a decent chance of seeing 3 sets. I am favouring Rybakina. Lay Wang around 1.70 and remove liability at 2.30. Lay the set 1 winner.

ATP Doha – Ymer v Bedene

Mikael Ymer 1.97, Aljaz Bedene 2.00

Due to start around 2:30 pm

Ymer won their only previous match. That was in September last year at the Orleans Challenger in France. He won in 2 close sets on an indoor hard court.

Stronger overall results for Ymer in 2019. He won 72% of his matches. His hard court results were also stronger. He has come through the qualifying rounds this week. His best results on hard courts have been in Challenger tournaments.

Bedene won a Challenger title on hard courts in August and reached the 3rd round of the US Open. He prefers indoor courts and reached the final in Metz in September and made the quarter finals in Vienna as a qualifier in his last tournament of the season.

There is a very good chance that this goes to 3 sets. Lay Bedene around 1.65 to 1.70 and remove your liability at 2.30. I am giving a slight edge to Ymer to win.
