Wow, how crap are the prices today??  The smaller tournaments are a bit of a culture shock after weeks of Indian wells and Miami. Players don’t seem as interested in fighting back from losing the opening set. Yesterday just 5 matches from 22 went to a deciding set.

Casablanca, 11:00 – Monfils has pulled out and Lucky Loser Kuznetsov gets a second chance. He lost to Gilles Simon in the final qualifying round.

Today’s opponent Vesely is rightly favourite but I don’t see much value at 1.44.

Vesely had a good win in the first round and has also been playing decent tennis in recent weeks. I expect him to win but am hoping for a higher entry price in the early games.

Bogota, 16:30Begu has enjoyed some success recently. She has been in the final of her last 3 tournaments. They were only ITF events but she won 2 titles.

Since Oprandi reached the semi final in Brussels last May she hasn’t done so well on the main tour. Before this week she had just 1 main tour win since May.

Begu has played a lot of tennis and she must start to tire soon. She had a good win in the first round over Schmiedlova and on clay I would expect her to beat Oprandi. As with most of today’s starting prices her SP of 1.49 is a risky back for me until we see her energy levels.

If Begu seems ok I will look to back her if or when Oprandi gets an early break.
