WTA BNP Paribas Open, 18:00 – Chirico v Vekic

They have never met. The 6 month stats favour Chirico.

Vekic has just 1 main tour win this year but she was the underdog in all her 4 losses. She generally wins the matches she should win according to the pre match prices but has few wins as the big underdog. Today these two start off priced fairly evenly.

Chirico has been in good form but most of her wins were against weaker opposition.

This is priced about right. Vekic is the better player but confidence should be low with so little success this year. We should see a few breaks of serve.

Home advantage could help Chirico but it is Vekic’s to win or lose. Gut feeling is the American takes it in 3.

WTA BNP Paribas Open, 19:30 – Barthel v Mladenovic

Barthel leads the head to heads 3-1. She has won their last 3 meetings. The most recent was in 2013 on an indoor hard court. She won in 2 sets. All 3 of her wins were straight  sets.

The 6 month stats are extremely even. The 3 month stats slightly favour Mladenovic.

Barthel’s last two matches were losses as pre match favourite. She has won just 3 of her last 10.

Mladenovic reached the quarter finals in Monterrey losing to Ivanovic.

This is a tough one to call but Value is on Mladenovic. 3 sets look a real possibility.

WTA BNP Paribas Open, 22:30 – Lucic Baroni v Erakovic

Lucic Baroni leads the head to heads  2-1. Riske won their only recent match which was in 2014 on clay in 2 sets.

The 6 month stats favour Riske. She also leads the 3 month stats.

Lucic Baroni reached the quarter finals in Acapulco but retired in the second set.

Riske has never won a match at Indian Wells. She reached the semis in Hobart. The following week she lost in the 1st round in Melbourne but that is understandable after a long week prior. She will need to serve well today and if she does she has the game to win this match. If her serve is off it will be avery close match. She will trade above evens.
