12th April 2014 – Semi Final day

I have had a nightmare morning as my laptop died on me. I couldn’t even boot it up so there were certain things I had no access to. After a lot of Googling I found it was a bad RAM slot so it is up and running again ( but with half the RAM!)

Katowicz, 13:00Radwanska has won all 4 of her previous matches against Cornet. All their sets however have been close and their meeting in Indian Wells in March was no different with Radwanska winning 7-5, 6-3.

Radwanksa starts at 1.18 and a lay between 1.10 and 1.14 probably isn’t a bad place to start. I’d be very surprised if Cornet wins this but I do expect her to push Radwanska’s price higher in the opening set.

Casablanca – Delbonis v Granollers has been covered for the Shark Tips service.

Casablanca, 15:30Garcia Lopez has had an excellent week so far.  He reached the quarter finals in his last 3 visits to this event and has now gone one better. He hasn’t lost a set so far and has knocked out Paire and Berlocq en route to this semi final.

Carballes Baena has fought hard for his place but was helped by his opponents and especially in the 2nd round when Sousa served for the match in set two before falling apart.

Garcia Lopez will be too experienced today. He starts at 1.39 which is probably a fair price but we should get over 1.50 to 1.60 if he serves second.

Bogota, 16:30Garcia starts as slight favourite against King. Both have looked in reasonable form this week and this is close to 50/50 for me. Garcia is stronger from the service line and King is better on return of serve.

I think we see 3 sets here and if it does go the distance I think King’s experience will bring her through.

Katowicz – Suarez Navarro v Giorgi  has been covered for Shark Tips.

Bogota, 18:30 – Defending champion Jankovic is just 1 match away from another final. Her opponent today is Scheepers who has shown some much improved form in the last few weeks. After coming through a tough match with Knapp in the opening round she has been fairly comfortable and lost just 3 games against the rapidly decline Dominguez Lino in the quarter final.

Jankovic leads the head to head 2-1 but it was Scheepers who won their only match from the last 12 months. That was on the clay in Madrid in 2013 and she won in 3 sets.

I think Scheepers will make a decent fight of this but I don’t see her reaching the final. Scheepers taking the opening set would be great to give a better entry but I will settle for her going a break ahead.
