Wimbledon is over for another year. The men’s final was a little disappointing. Federer couldn’t match his level from the semi final and Djokovic stepped up after an unconvincing tournament. That’s what champions do.

Things get back to normal today. Liquidity often takes a dip the day after a slam as the big traders take a break.

16:00 – Berrer v Johnson

Johnson won their only previous meeting. That was last year on grass. He won in 2 sets.

Berrer has won 5 of his last 7 on grass this year but hasn’t won a main draw match yet on this surface in 2015. His serve wasn’t good against Mannarino at Wimbledon although he took the 1st set in a tie break.

Johnson has a great game for grass. He played well on hard courts in the early part of the season but on grass he has had some unexpected losses. His concentration has been poor recently.

I think Berrer could give him some problems today but I favour Johnson to win, especially on home soil. He reached the quarter  finals last year.

Back Johnson if he gets broken early or if Berrer takes set 1.

19:00 – Menendez-Maceiras v Falla

Head to head are  1-1.  Theirmost recent meeting was this year on a hard court. Menendez-Maceiras won in 2 sets. Falla won in 2013 on a hard court in 3 sets.

Menendez-Maceiras has played just 1 main draw match on grass this year which he lost.

Falla has a good record on grass. His serve is very effective and he volleys well. He has won 7 of his last 10 on grass. His losses on grass this year have gone to 3 sets. His Wimbledon loss to Haase was in 4 sets. Falla’s greater grass experience should see him through. He hasn’t played this tournament since 2010 but hasn’t won a main draw match there in 2 visits.

Back Falla at break point on his own serve He will save more break points than Menendez-Maceiras takes.
