Five tournaments this week but prices are poor today.
ATP Kremlin Cup, 12:00 – Lajovic v Seppi
The Kremlin Cup has had a reputation for fixed or dodgy matches. It will be interesting to see if that reputation is enhanced this year.
Seppi hasn’t had the best season and has dropped from 24th to 48th in the rankings. He has found a little form recently and made the quarter finals in Shenzhen last month. He won the title in 2012 and reached the semi final last season.
Lajovic has only reached the main draw once which was in 2011. He was knoacked out in the qualifying rounds for the last 2 seasons. He has his best results on clay and has had very limited success on hard courts.
Seppi starts at 1.45 which is not a terrible price but we still have a chance of a higher entry price. Part stake at the start and top up above 1.70 .
WTA Kemlin Cup, 13:30 – Pironkova v Kovinic
In Kovinic’s last 10 losses 5 of them were as pre match favourite. In her last 10 wins only 1 was as the underdog.
Pironkova reached the quarter finals last week losing out to Knapp. The week before she reached the second round in Beijing as a qualifier where she lost to Serena Williams. Before those tournaments though she hadn’t won back to back matches since her third round finish in Miami in March.
That does suggest that Pironkova is the player in form. She starts at 1.37 which isn’t the best price.Kovinic has the ability to cause her problems early in the match but as for closing out the match I have to go with Pironkova. I will have part stake on her from the start just in case she wins easily but am hoping that Kovinic can push that price higher in the early games.
