08:00 – Lisiscki v Pliskova
Lisicki hasn’t reached a final this season but she lost all 3 that she reached in 2013. Her losses came to Bartoli (Wimbledon), Erakovic (Memphis) and Kirilenko (Pattaya). This is her first final since her melt down at Wimbledon. She started the week very poorly against Niculescu who she had never beaten before. She eventually dragged herself over the finish line but it wasn’t impressive.
Lisicki has looked vulnerable when faced with an aggressive opponent this week and I think this will be very close.
Pliskova reached 2 finals this season which she lost to Bouchard and Makarova.
Pliskova has been fairly consistent and has started her last 3 matches very well after losing her opening set of the tournament to Hercog. She went into a 5-0 lead against Puig in the second round and relaxed a little early. She almost allowed Puig back into the set. She seems to have learned from that error and hung on to her leads after that.
Both their previous matches were this season with Lisicki winning both of them. Once on grass at Wimbledon (her favourite surface) and once on the clay in Madrid. That one went to 3 sets.
Hardcourts give Pliskova more of a chance and if she continues to serve well she has a real chance to take the title.
Lisicki starts at 1.58 which isn’t a million miles away from being a fair price taking the head to heads into consideration but I give Pliskova a great chance today.
An early lay below 1.30 on Lisicki should give a chance of profit as i think 3 sets are a real possibility. I am edging towards Pliskova to take the win but both players can be affected by the occasion.
