ATP Monte Carlo, 11:15 – Chardy v Schwartzman

Chardy narrowly lost to Anderson in the quarter finals last week in Houston. Last year was the only time he reached the 2nd round in Monte Carlo.

Shwartzman hasn’t been in the best form. He did beat Montanes in the qualifying rounds. This is his first time in Monte Carlo.

Chardy may take a little time to adjust to the red clay. Shwartz may well keep it close if he serves well but Chardy will win in the end.

Chardy starts at 1.59. Wait for a higher entry price. Ideally Chardy will go an early break behind.

ATP Monte Carlo, 14:45 – Mayer v Cilic

Mayer leads the head to heads  2-1. They have never played on clay.

Mayer played an excellent match against  Youzhny considering he hadn’t played for 12 m onths. he served very well.

Cilic has only played 1 match this year which he lost. He didn’t serve well at all in that match. Cilic hasn’t lost a 1st round match in Monte Carlo since 2008.

Mayer has a chance in this one. Cilic will be rusty and didn’t impress in his last match which was on his favourite surface. Lay Cilic.

WTA Claro Open Colsanitas, 18:30 – Cirstea v Falconi

Cirstea leads  1-0. That was in 2010 on a hard court. She won in 3 sets.

Cirstea hasn’t won a match this year. Apart from the French Open She hasn’t won a WTA clay match since May 2013.

Falconi has very limited success on clay and virtually none in WTA matches. She has shown some decent form on hard courts and against a player in dire form she should be slight favourite but they really should be around evens (2.00).

This looks like being a messy match. Laying the server looks a good option.
