Four whole matches tonight!
20:45 – Benneteau won the first match he played against Djokovic. That was back in 2006 though and Djokovic has won the 5 matches they have played since. Benneteau has only managed to win one set in those matches.
Benneteau has had a pretty good tournament after a very poor start to 2014. Djokovic has been taken too three sets in two of his three matches. If Gonzalez can take a set you’d imagine Benneteau should be able to. Djokovic’s focus will intensify as they approach the business end of the tournament and he is less likely to ease up to conserve energy quite as much as in previous rounds.
I will monitor this one in case Benneteau can make a fast start but from an SP of 1.07 a lot has to happen before we get a backable price.
22:45 – Isner v Gulbis has been covered for the Shark Tips service. it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this will be a match dominated by serve. In matches like this it is best to concentrate on who is better equipped to deal with a serve rather than deliver one.
Gulbis must be tiring a little after a heavy schedule but watching serves fly past your head doesn’t take much energy. However you have to feel that if he can get the serve return in play he must be favourite in rallies.
01:30 – When Radwanska and Halep met recently in Doha Radwanska took a 5-2 lead but then lost 5 in a row to lose the set. Halep immediately went a break up in the second set and there was no way back for Rad.
Halep has made a fast start in all her matches so far winning every one 6-2. A repeat of that seems unlikely today.
Halep starts around 1.84 and that seems a decent price if she is fit.
03:30 – Li v Pennetta. Their only recent meeting was in the Australian Open in January. Li won easily in 2 sets.
Pennetta did well for the Shark Tips subscribers last night but to be honest she looked out of it until the wind increased and she was able to use her experience to out wit Stephens. Just 24 hours later I don’t expect her to have 2 competitive sets left in her.
