WTA Internazionali BNL d’Italia, 13:00 – Bacsinszky v Gavrilova
Gavrilova has had a great week so far but has lost the opening set in her last 3 matches. She looked down and out against Bencic but fought back from a set and a break behind. She beat Ivanovic in a third set tie break in the last round. It would be a big ask for her to take another big scalp today.
Bacsinszky has beaten Pliskova and Lisicki this week, both in straight sets.
Gavrilova’s second serve is her weakness and she has won below 36% of points on it in her last 3 wins. That won’t get the job done today.
Back Bacsinszky if she goes a break behind.
WTA Internazionali BNL d’Italia, 14:30 – Jankovic v Kvitova
Kvitova leads 3-2 although she won their most recent meeting in 2015 due to Jankovic retiring. They never played on clay.
Kvitova won the title last week and could have been forgiven for not giving 100% in the first round in Rome. She won in a third set tie break. She had no points to defend this week.
Jankovic has a strong record in Rome and has played 2 solid matches so far. If Kvit is a little less interested than normal in this match Jankovic is capable of taking the win.
It’s worth laying Kvitova if she goes an early break ahead. I expect her to trade higher than 1.49 .
