WTA Copa Claro Colsanitas, 16:30 – Shvedova v Vickery

Vickery’s last match was an odd one. She won the first set 6-0 and was 5-2 up in the second. She lost the set 5-7 and went a break behind in the third. At 4-2 Kukova just couldn’t hold serve any more and Vickery won 4 straight games. Vickery won just 37% of 1st serve points.

Shvedova really should have won her match in 2 sets. In the second set tie break she was 5-3 up but Zanevska fought back. The third set was one way traffic.

I can’t back Vickery after her serving performance in the last match. Shvedova’s price is a little low at 1.54 and I will wait for her to go an early break behind before backing her.

WTA Copa Claro Colsanitas, 17:00 – Glushko v Panova

Glushko leads the head to heads 1-0. That was in 2011 on a hard court and she won in 2 sets.

Before this week Panova hadn’t won a match since the Australian Open. She served well in her first round match saving all 4 of her break points.

Glushko’s first serve was excellent in her last match. She got 78% of 1st serves in and won 76% of points on it. Her 2nd serve wasn’t anywhere near as good but she didn’t need it much!. She saved all 7 of the break points she faced.

Panova needs to serve well to have a chance. She did reach the final in 2012 but hasn’t been past the second round since.

Tough one to call but I think we see 3 sets. The winner will be the one who holds their serve together in the important points. Points won on 2nd served is likely to be the deciding factor.
