ATP Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, 18:00 – Ram v Mannarino
Mannarino leads their previous meetings 2-0. The most recent match was in 2014 on an indoor hard court. He won in 3 sets. Both their matches went to 3 sets.
Mannarino had to finish his match with Haas and didn’t look happy in his later match with Roger-Vasselin. He was broken 3 times and his 2nd serve was poor.
Ram has beaten Isner and Sugita in 2 sets. His serve has been excellent and he has a good chance today especially if Mannarino isn’t 100%.
I think we see 3 sets. If Mannarino has recovered from playing 4 sets yesterday he should scrape through but he won’t get many chances on the Ram serve.
Mannarino starts around 1.70 . Wait to see how he is serving and especially his second serve. If he looks ok and reasonably fresh, Back him above 2.00. If he doesn’t look happy with life, try to lay below 1.45 .
ATP Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, 19:30 – Smith v Ito
Smith leads 1-0. That match was in 2014 on carpet and he won in 3 sets.
Both have served and played well this week. Ito has faced tougher opposition although Smith beat Tomic in the first round. Tomic was far from his best and didn’t look too interested. Ito beat American Steve Johnson in the last round in straight sets.
We won’t see many breaks of serve. I give Ito the slightest of edges. Just a small number of key points will decide the sets. Backing both on serve is an option.
Back Ito above 2.00
