ATP Shanghai Rolex Masters, 08:00 – Nadal v Wawrinka
Nadal leads their previous meetings 12-2. Wawrinka won their last 2. The most recent was in May this season on clay. Wawrinka won in 2 sets.
The 3 month hard court stats favour Wawrinka.
Nadal has looked sharper this week. His game has stood up well to the tests from Karlovic and Raonic.
Wawrinka was having shoulder problems against Cilic and that was a really tough match which Stan scraped through in 3 sets. Unless that was a minor problem Wawrinka will not be fit enough to be competitive against this week’s version of Nadal.
Back Nadal above 2.10.
WTA Hong Kong Tennis Open, 09:30 – Garcia v Kerber
Kerber leads their previous meetings 2-1. She has won their last 2 matches. The most recent was in January this season on a hard court. She won in 2 sets.
Garcia has been in respectable form but hasn’t been setting the world alight. She has had 2 easy matches so far.
Kerber lost her opening set of the week to Schiavone but has looked good since. She did face 7 break points against Nara but saved them all.
I would expect Kerber to be a little more motivated from the start for this match. She has been playing some great tennis in recent weeks.
Back Kerber if she gets broken first.
