Where’s this year gone? 1st of October already!
WTA Tashkent Open, 10:45 – Rodina v Larsson
Larsson leads their previous meetings 2-1. The most recent was in June 2014 on clay. She won in 2 sets.
Rodina has played better than I expected this week. Her 2nd serve was poor in the 1st round but she looked solid in her win over Shvedova in round 2.
Larsson has been comfortable in both her matches. I think this one goes to 3 sets but I favour Larsson to win.
Back Larsson if she gets broken first or if she loses set 1.
WTA Wuhan Open, 13:00 – Kerber v Vandeweghe
Kerber won their only previous meeting That was on a hard court in July 2014 and she won in 3 sets.
The 12 month hard court stats favour Kerber in everything except service holds. She reached the quarter finals last year. She has played well this week and has looked relaxed.
Vandeweghe has played 3 matches this week and all have gone to 3 sets. Her last 2 were won in 3rd set tbreaks. Her serve has been a little inconsistent. Sometimes great but letting her down on other points.
I expect Kerber to be too strong but If Vandeweghe can hold her serve together we can see 3 sets.
Back Kerber if Vandeweghe breaks and then holds.
