Hectic day at Shark Towers.
I am finishing the remaining matches for the trading email in between trading matches! I have also had a heating engineer spraying dirty water around my kitchen, which was fun.
I will be posting previews from this evening’s matches shortly.
ATP Erste Bank Open, 14:35 – Struff v Stakhovsky
A title and a semi final for Struff’ in his last 2 Challenger tournaments. Both were indoors. He has come through the qualifying rounds this week.
Stakhovsky reached the final of a hard court Challenger last month and quarter finals of an indoor event 2 weeks ago. He has a good record indoors and if he can keep the errors down he has a chance.
Lay Struff below 1.30.
ATP Erste Bank Open, 17:30 – Thiem v Janowicz
Janowicz won their only previous match. That was in November 2011 on an indoor hard court and he won in straight sets.
Indoor stats for the last 12 month are very close but slightly favour Thiem. He doesn’t have a great record at home on the main tour.
This will be a close match and will perhaps go to 3 sets. Thiem should come through in the end.
Back Thiem if he gets broken first.
WTA Kremlin Cup, 18:00 – Cibulkova v Suarez Navarro.
Cibulkova has won all 3 of their previous matches. The most recent was in September this year. It was on a hard court and she won in straight sets.
Cibulkova made a terrible start to her first round match but got her act together to win in 3.
Suarez Navarro has been in better form after a shocking run of losses.
I think this could be close and Cibulkova is too low at 1.60.
Back Cibulkova if she is broken first.
