Miami kicks off this afternoon.
If you haven’t tried my Trading Spreadsheet yet here is a sample of today’s.
WTA qualifying, 15:30 – Erakovic v Panova
Pan leads the head to heads 2-0 Both matches were in 2010 on hard courts and she won in 2 sets.
Stats are close but Panova’s serve stats are stronger.
Erakovic retired from Doha a month ago. In Indian Wells she took Bacsinszky to 3 sets. Her serve isn’t even near its best right now.
Value is on Panova. Erakovic has been inconsistent. Panova does have a couple of poor losses as strong pre match favourite this year but won’t be taking anything for granted today. Three sets are very possible.
Lay Erakovic when a break ahead. She starts around 1.44
WTA qualifying, 17:00 – Hradecka v Buyukakcay
Hradecka leads the head to heads 1-0 That was in 2009 on a hard court and she won in 3 sets.
Stats favour Buyukakcay on everything except serve. It has been a decent early part of the season for Hradecka. She reached the 3rd round in Melbourne as a qualifier and the 2nd round in Indian Wells as a qualifier.
Buyukakcay has had tough draws in the last 3 events. She doesn’t cope well against big servers.
Wait for an early break for Buyuk before backing Hradecka.
WTA qualifying, 20:00 – Duque Marino v Rodina
The 3 month stats favour Rodina in everything except service holds.
Duque Marino hasn’t lost a 1st round of qualification since Melbourne in Jan.
We have seen better form from Rodina this season but she has been inconsistent at times. This could be close so the value is on Duque Marino.
I will wait for Marino to take a break lead before backing Rodina.
