Moselle Open, 14:30 – Tsonga v Simon
Tsonga leads their previous matches 6-4. The most recent was at the Australian Open in January 2014. Tsonga won in straight sets. Their last meeting before that was in the Moselle final in 2013 which Simon won in 2 sets.
The court is pretty slow for a hard court which works in Simon’s favour. The price on Tsonga is too low. Mahut was a break up in the 3rd set of their quarter final and Zverev also took a set.
Simon has not dropped a set so far. He was 3-0 down in set 2 to Klizan but won 6 of the next 7 games.
This should be close and the value is on Simon. I think he takes this in 3 sets.
St Petersburg Open, 14:00 – Sousa v Raonic
Raonic won both their previous matches in straight sets. Their most recent was in April 2015 on clay in 2 sets.
Raonic has faced just 4 break points in 3 matches and has not been broken.
I was surprised to see Sousa beat Thiem. He didn’t start the week well and i certainly didn’t expect to see him anywhere near the final.
The sets will probably be close although I though Bautista Agut would also keep them close against Raonic.
Raonic starts around 1.16. No value unless Raonic loses the 1st set.
Raonic in 2 sets seems most likely.
