ATP Swiss Open, 17:00 – Karlovic v Wawrinka

Wawrinka leads their previous matches 5-1. Their most recent meeting was in August this year on a hard court. Wawrinka won in 3 tie break sets.

Wawrinka doesn’t have a good recent record at this tournament and has lost in the first round for the last 3 seasons.

I see no  reason to think we won’t get tie breaks again today. No value on Wawrinka at the start.

Backing the server is an option. Back Wawrinka if he loses set 1.

ATP Swiss Open, 19:00 – Dimitrov v Nadal

Nadal has won all 6 of their previous matches. The most recent was in May this year on a clay court and he won in straight sets.

Dimitrov just isn’t sharp right now. He isn’t playing terrible tennis but he is well short of the level that we saw from him last season.  He was very solid in his first round win over Stakhovsky. he didn’t face a single break point.

Nadal had a tough first match with Rosol. He needed a third set tie break after losing the opening set 6-1. His form has been much improved in recent weeks though he had taken a week off after reaching the semi final in Shanghai. The week before that he reached the final in Beijing.. He made the quarter finals last year but may feel his place at the year end finals is safe. Even so, I’d say he goes for the win today.

Back Nadal above 1.70
