29th April 2015

ATP Estoril Open, 12:30 – Almagro v L Mayer

Almagro leads the head to heads 2-0. Both were on clay in 2012 and 2011. He  leads the sets 5-1.

Almagro is finding his form after an extended break from the tour.

Mayer hasn’t matched his clay form of 2014 but is a dangerous player on this surface. His loss to Andujar in Barcelona was poor after he controlled the opening set although Andujar went on to have a great week.

This could easily  be a  3 setter. Almagro’s usual tactics of concentrating on holding serve and going for a late break in opening sets may backfire today though I expect him to win in 3.

Lay Almagro below 1.35 or back him if he goes a break behind in the first set.

ATP Estoril Open, 14:50 – Lopez v Haase

Head to heads are 2-2.

Lopez must have one eye on Madrid which starts next week. He reached the quarter finals there last year. He has no points to defend this week.

Haase has won both their previous matches on clay. His form hasn’t been great in 2015 but he looks to be improving. Clay is his best surface. He could really do with a decent run this week.

Worth a lay on Lopez below 1.40
