2nd October 2014

Some awful prices today. Of the remaining matches only 2 offer anything like decent starting prices. The Stosur v Cornet match is covered for Shark Tips subscribers.

Chardy Anderson is previewed below but in the others that all have short priced favourites I don’t see too much chance of upsets. Maybe Safarova can give Serena a game but I will just monitor the matches for favourites who get into trouble.

ATP Japan Open, 09:00 – Chardy v Anderson

These two have never played. Anderson has the bigger serve although Chardy is no Volandri from the service line. Anderson reached the third round at the US Open and this is his first tournament since then. He beat Thiem fairly comfortably in the first round.

Chardy had a much tougher first round match although if he was playing his best tennis I wouldn’t expect him to need three sets to beat Ram. He gave 9 break points and was broken 4 times.

Anderson starts at 1.48 which looks a little low. Thiem broke him 3 times so we can expect Chardy to have chances.

I expect Anderson to take this on the fast Tokyo courts but I will wait for a better price.
