ATP Valencia Open, 13:30 – Cuevas v Sousa
Head to heads are 1-1. As you’d expect Cuevas won on clay (2014) and Sousa on an indoor hard court (2013).
Hard courts are not Cuevas’ best surface and he is usually disappointing away from clay courts. He has found some spells of consistency on hard courts this year.
Both had good wins in the last round with Cuevas beating Tomic in 3 sets and Sousa beating Paire, also in 3.
I have to give the edge to Sousa in this one. He has a decent record in ATP 250 events. Back him above 2.10 .
ATP Valencia Open, 15:00 – Garcia Lopez v Johnson
Johnson won their only previous meeting. That was in May this year at the French Open. He won in 5 sets.
Johnson’s strong form continued with a straight sets win over Lopez in the last round. He served for the match at 5-4 in the 2nd set but was broken. He took it in a tie break.
Garcia Lopez beat Daniel in 2 sets after knocking out Verdasco in a low quality 3 setter.
This is all about Johnson. If he isn’t struggling with fatigue he will take this. Due to that possibility of fatigue he is priced too short. Back him above 1.80 .
ATP Valencia Open, 19:00 – Bautista Agut v Zverev
Zverev won their previous match. That was on clay in 2012 and he won in 3 sets.
Zverev has beaten Bellucci and Fognini. There is value on him today as the favourites are not all that interested this week.
Lay Bautista Agut below 1.20
