WTA BMW Malaysian Open, 12:00 – Dulgheru v Lisicki
Dulgheru had a good run last week but retired in her last match. She beat Gajdosova, Zheng and Cornet before retiring against Wozniacki.
Lisicki has won just 2 of her last 10 matches. Her only win in 2015 was against Niculescu. She really needs a good week to get her season off the ground. Dulgheru won’t make it easy for her but I think Lisicki will win a scrappy match. She is likely to make a nervous start so wait before entering.
Lisicki starts around 1.58
WTA Abierto Monterrey, 17:00 – Wickmayer v Bacsinszky
Bacsinszky leads the head to heads 3-2. She won their last 2 meetings in straight sets. Their only recent match was last August on a hard court.
Bacsinszky leads the 6 month stats although service holds are even. Bacsinszky won the title last week so may be tired or uninterested this week. Wickmayer has played some decent tennis this year with a 4th round finish in Melbourne. As always she has been inconsistent though. If Bacsinszky is not playing 100% she has a chance today. Worth a lay at SP on Bacsinszky.
Bacsinszky starts around 1.26
WTA Abierto Monterrey, 17:30 – Davis v Errani
Head to heads are 1-1. Both matches were 2014. Errani won hers on a hard court.
Errani won the title in Rio’s tough conditions but wasn’t impressive. Davis started the year well with a semi in Auckland but has done nothing much since. Errani lost to Puig easily in the 2nd round last week but that was no surprise after a title win. She reached the semis of this event in 2012 but hasn’t played there since.
If Davis’ form had been stronger going into this week I would give her a chance today but I think Errani will scrape through due to her consistency. If she has another nightmare on serve though she can slip up.
Errani starts at 1.54 . Don’t enter at the start as she has had a few slow starts recently.
