ATP Kitzbuhel Open, 14:00 – Montanes v Schwartzman
Schwartzman won their only previous meeting recently on clay. He won in 2 close sets.
Montanes wasn’t at his best in the last round. His second serve was poor.
Schwartzman has been in poor form coming into this tournament but played well in the 1st round against Ramos. Ramos gave him a lot of help though.
I have to expect Schwartzman to trade higher than 1.44 which seems a crazy price. Montanes will need to lift his game but he is able to do that.
It’s worth laying Schwartzman below 1.30 for a trade. Remove or reduce liability at 1.60 .
ATP Kitzbuhel Open, 15:30 – Lajovic v Seppi
Seppi won both their previous matches. The most recent was last season on an indoor hard court. He won in 2 sets. Their other match was in 2011 on clay. He won in straight sets.
The stats are better on clay for Lajovic in the last 12 months, 3 months and when comparing performances against the same opponents. His form hasn’t been great recently though. He served well against Youzhny in the last round.
Seppi reached the semi finals last week and played soe decent tennis although he was weak against Nadal. I favour him to win today but think we get a better price.
Back Seppi if he gets broken first.
WTA Citi Open, 22:30 – Hercog v Begu
Begu won their only previous meeting in 2012. That was on a clay court and she won in 2 sets. The 12 month hard courts stats favour Begu in most categories.
Hercog has a bigger serve and has been serving well recently. She hasn’t had much success on the hard courts this season.
Begu isn’t known for her skills on hard courts but made the 4th round at the Australian Open in January. She took Radwanska to 3 sets in Miami.
Begu is rightly the favourite but if Hercog can serve well she can take this very close. I think we see 3 sets.
Lay whoever breaks first.
