I don’t know where the morning’s gone!

14:00 – Sharapova v Bouchard.

Sharapova’s record in the last 3 French Opens are semi final, title, final.  This is the semi final of her favourite Slam. She is also playing for her place in the top 10. If she loses today she will drop outside the top group of players and be replaced by Bouchard.

Bouchard reached the semi finals at the Australian Open where she lost to eventual champion Li Na in straight sets. That experience may help her today but there is so much more at stake for the young Canadian and despite her form she is still a relative novice on the clay

Sharapova has made a poor start to her last 2 matches. She will obviously be looking to hit the ground running this time as Bouchard is an excellent front runner. Bouchard has a very poor record on clay when losing the opening set.

Sharapova has so much experience of this type of match and the added incentive of remaining a top 10 player will help her to raise her game.

The starting price of 1.36 is poor and from a trading point of view I want a higher entry.

16:00 – Halep v Petkovic

Halep leads the head to heads 2-1. Both her wins came last season.

Petkovic surprised a few people by beating Errani  in the quarter final. The German has huge ground strokes when she is on form and those groundstrokes were too much for the little Italian.

Halep has a better game for dealing with a big hitter and she also has the serve to give Petkovic problems.

Halep’s price of 1.28 is way too low as Petkovic has nothing to lose and should come out swinging. If she can build up a little momentum who knows what can happen but Halep (when fit) has proved to be a tough nut to crack.

I’m looking to back Halep when a break behind.
