There is a new trading video on the members pages. Several new videos have been added in the last 2 or 3 weeks and more are planned.  The latest one was a losing trade but it shows the importance of getting a value entry to limit losses.

ATP Kitzbuhel Open, 15:50 – Thiem v Montanes

Montanes won their only previous meeting. That was at this tournament in 2013. He won in straight sets.

Thiem has won the last 2 tournaments. he took titles in Umag and backed it up with Gstaad last week.  This is his home event and I am sure he is desperate to do well. He reached the final last year. Not many players can go deep into tournaments in 3 consecutive weeks. Fognini did it in 2013. He won 2 titles on clay and by the final of the 3rd tournament he had nothing left to give. Clay is probably physically the toughest surface to play on. He looked tired in the opening set of his last  match.  Haider Maurer took it 6-1. Thiem took the next 2 sets though they were very tight. The 2nd set was a tie break.

I couldn’t understand why Montanes seemed to be under valued by everyone yesterday! He had a very easy win over Schwartzman losing just 4 games. He has been erratic in recent months and has had some unexpected losses on clay.

I think if Thiem was fresh then the 1.27 price would be justified but as he goes into the end of a third long week I think Montanes can make him work very hard. It is worth laying Thiem below 1.20 for a trade.  Who wins in the end depends on Thiem’s fitness. The crowd may need to carry him if he is to go the whole 9 yards.

WTA Citi Open, 18:50 – Bencic v Pavlyuchenkova

Bencic won their only previous meeting. that was last season on clay and she won in 3 sets.

This is a tricky one. Bencic seems the obvious pick and it is easy to write off Pavlyuchenkova as she can have real problems on serve and can have some unexpected weak losses but she has been in better form in the last couple of weeks.  She reached the semi finals last week and beat Rybarikova in 2 tie breaks in the last round. She hit 8 double faults.

Bencic served well in her tight win over Smitkova. She faced just 1 break point which was taken.  She reached the final in s-Hertogenbosch and then took the title in Eastbourne.  She also reached the 4th round at Wimbledon so has been in excellent form on grass. if she can continue that on th hard courts she will do well.

I give a slight edge to Bencic but not at 1.47 . Back Bencic when she is a break behind.

ATP Citi Open, 22:30 – Johnson v Dimitrov

Dimitrov won their only previous match. That was this season on grass and he won in 3 sets.

Johnson reached the quarter finals last year. He played well in his 2 matches this week though Tomic was acting like a pratt. He was asking the umpire mid game what the record was for deuces in a single game. When Johnson hit a ball long Tomic challenged it but the umpire refused to request a review. He threw the match away. Johnson didn’t face a single break point in 3 sets.

Dimitrov wasn’t impressive in his win over Pella. He won just 39% of 2nd serve points and faced 8 break points. He was broken 3 times. He will need to increase his level for this match. He won’t get many chances on the Johnson serve. Perhaps he took the win over Pella for granted.

Lay Dimitrov below 1.30. I expect this to be very close.  3 sets very possible.
