Anyone know of a good trading forum?

The Racing Traders forum and The Geeks Toy forum are having a scrap. The Geeks forum is populated with disgruntled ex members of the RT forum who nip back on there to throw shit and generally wave to their mates from the other forum. I know The Geek and to be honest get on quite well with him. I Obviously know Adam Todd but not as well as people assume. I have learned a great deal from the members on his forum and he is the reason I got into trading in the first place.

I can now see a situation where neither forum will be a place for traders to help traders. People aren’t posting about trading because of all the idiots sniping at other idiots. Over at the Geek’s forum no one is posting about trading as they’re all obsessed with their “battle” with RT.

I have been asked to keep my identity a secret on the other forum incase some of the monkeys start a riot. It seems they feel that I am a part of the blood sucking leeches who prey on new traders for financial gain. Anyone who has joined my service will know the value of what I offer. A one off payment and, basically you own me for life lol. Ironically the people criticising me dont even know what my service entails! I know because I’ve asked them.

So if you enjoy watching 5 year olds trying to out-do each other you may find something of interest. Its not for me.

So I got to thinking on the way home. Why not have a forum purely for traders to help traders? No bullshit, no word of the day, honey of the month etc just traders helping traders. If experienced traders arent prepared to help new traders then they wouldn’t be welcome. If people joined just to snipe, boot them out. Maybe a small monthly fee to deter at least some of the time wasters? A fiver a month? Some other way? ย Maybe just until one of the forums sorts its act out.

So I’d be interested to know what you think. If I get little or no response then I won’t bother. But if there’s a demand for it I will look into providing it.

Replies, comments for and against can be posted on the blog or direct to me via email.

  1. Hi! I think you should create a forum for your members only. (not a member, so dunno if it already exists, if it does, disrigard the idea) ๐Ÿ™‚

I know it can sometimes be frustrating reading bullshit responses of idiots to some advice you have given on forums, but that’s the way it goes.
So just create a forum for your members, where you can exchange ideas and trading angles, someone who has payed 30 quid for access to your site won’t write stupid things. And maybe leave some sort of open section for all visitors, where they can post questions about trading. Only one open topic “help section for new traders”, where all can participate, and the others can be closed for “the public”. That way moderating the forum won’t be a problem for you, and it will be less time consuming.

And don’t get upset for the other forums, just remember that when you answer to someone’s question you help that person, and who cares what others write! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. The blog and website would continue as it is. There would obviously be a tennis section in a forum. Just sounding people out at present ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I second the above idea. It would be good to have a safe, productive forum without the sniping!

  3. I have seen you on the “UK Betting Tips” forum. They don’t have much in the way of tennis tipstering/trading strategy expert, and there isn’t very much fighting that goes on. Why not start setting up “shop” (figuratively speaking) there? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thats actually not a bad idea at all. If there’s any support for that approach I will cotact the admin over there. Am sure they’d welcome a few more members.

  4. Troy Cook ( Crownee )

Mate im all for it , im not sure if you remember me but we have spoken before im a tennis trader like yaself and do quite well , i also am creating my own website as i specialise in a system for laying uk greyhounds, ive been looking for a forum or preferably chat room purely traders helping traders for a long while now. If you’d like to talk you have my email address cheers mate

    1. Hi Troy, ‘Course I remember you. Would be interested to hear how you’re getting on ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. It is disappointing that these forums have descended into the Betfair forum style gutter. I picked up a lot of good snippets from Racing Traders, but it has become more and more difficult to find them amongst the bile.

It is a risk that any forum takes I guess. The more populated it becomes, the greater the danger in attracting those that hide behind the anonymity the Internet provides.

It seems that in recent times every man and his dog has opened a forum and/or chat room. The trading community is in danger of having so many of these that they all become sparsely populated, or perhaps worse, populated by the very same, unsavoury people.

As a service for your members though Paul, yes, it would be a good idea. Just keep in mind the additional administrative overhead that it may involve.

Finally, if I may blow my own trumpet, and pick up on Troy Cooks point. I already have a chat room for traders available on my site, open 24/7. It’s been there for years and long before the infamous Racing Traders Paltalk room appeared. It is browser based and you do not need to download anything to access it.

Paul, you and your members are welcome to visit anytime. Just click my name at the top of this post. I’m normally in during racing and evening footy.

    1. Very kind Alistair, thankyou. I’ll try to get over there when i can so if any members want to look in we’ll see if they find it useful. I’m under no illusion as to the extra workload involved. I learned a lot too from the forum and I just think its a real shame that others are being denied it. I don’t want to spread myself too thin but I have a very genuine desire to help others to avoid some of the frustrations that i found in the early days

  6. hi TS,

good idea to creat a forum only for traders – i would be also very interested in it. but like people are – i think there will be always conflicts – you cant avoid it… it’s a pity.
I liked the RT forum but dont post there also for a long time…
if you find an interesting forum – let it know…

very inforative site – keep it on
    and good luck trading

    1. HI Kaftan, True but it wouldn’t have any of the “fluff” and rubbish. Just trading. I have just found some forum plugins for wordpress so if I get a few more positive comments from members i may just have one for tennis on the website Think they’re free too ๐Ÿ™‚
Tennis traders are a better class of trader and know how to behave themselves ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Somehow I think the sniping will calm down in a week or 2 on both forums. There are just a lot of bored people with too much time on their hands at the moment. { Including me. }

It would be nice to get the forums back to the old days of RT, and I think once people are actually trading again, the current forum spat will dwindle away into a distant memory.

    1. Well, lets hope so but I really can’t see it. Its all got way too personal and unfortunately there are too many who actually don’t want it sorted out. They enjoy the sniping and are unlikely to stop it.
Time will tell. Cheers for stopping by though ๐Ÿ™‚
