They have played twice before with each winning one. Their last meeting was in September 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. Baghdatis won on an indoor hard court in 3 sets. Almagro won at the French Open in 2012 in straight sets.
Almagro’s form has been up and down this year but more recently he has been playing well. In Madrid earlier this month he played superb tennis for most of his match with Djokovic and lost 7-5 in the third set. Last week in Rome he was playing Nadal and retired after he injured himself after 3 games.
Baghdatis has not played a lot of tennis this year. He started the year well as he usually does with a semi final finish in Auckland. He won his first round match against Youzhny in Melbourne but has not won a match since.
Baggy will fight but has a poor record on clay. Wait for 1.60 on Almagro.
