The sets should be tight but Johnson’s game is more solid than Rosol’s and I give him the edge
Rosol 3.35, Johnson 1.40
Head to heads are 1-1. They last met in Winston Salem, USA in August 2016. Johnson won on a hard court in straight sets. Rosol’s win was in a Challenger hard court final in Irving, USA and he won in straight sets.
Rosol has slightly better overall results in the last 12 months and also in 2018 although he plays Challenger tournaments and is against weaker opponents. He has come through the qualifying rounds this week and beat Vesely in the main draw in a third set tie break.
Johnson has stronger clay results in the last year and also in 2018. He reached the quarter finals of this tournament in 2017. In the last round he faced 9 break points against Copil but was broken just once.
I expect Rosol to be competitive. Back Johnson above 1.65.
Update: Johnson won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. He hit our entry point towards the end of set 2.
