Monaco leads their previous matches 4-3. The most recent meeting was in April 2013. He won in straight sets on clay.
Monaco has been struggling with injury for a while. He won a scrappy match in the last round over Dodig. His service stats weren’t terrible. He faced just 3 break points and was broken twice. Dodig retired when 0-5 down in the third set! Maybe he sensed he was going to lose.
Simon reached the 4th round in Melbourne but has had some poor results since. Since his run in Oz he has not been able to string 2 wins together.
This one can go either way so value is on Monaco. I think we at least see Simon trade higher.
