Due to start at 2 pm
Delbonis 1.43, Klizan 3.25
Klizan leads their previous matches 4-2. The last time they met was in Barcelona in April last year. Klizan won on clay in 3 sets. He leads 3-1 on clay. Their 12 month results also favour Klizan.
Delbonis has slightly better 2019 results though Klizan had a weak record on outdoor hard courts. The 12 month clay results favour Klizan.
Delbonis has come through the qualifying rounds this week. He beat Ramos in straight sets after Ivashka had retired in the first qualifying round. He made the semi finals in Cordoba in February. Home advantage seemed to help him that week.
Klizan’s only decent week in 2019 was indoors in Sofia. He reached the quarter finals. He retired from his second round match in Indian Wells last month.
Neither player has a good record in Monte Carlo. This price just seems crazy on Delbonis. I expect a close match so the value is on Klizan. Lay Delbonis around 1.30 to 1.35 and remove liability at 1.65. Surely Klizan takes at least a set.
Update: Klizan was broken first in both sets but won 7-6, 7-5.
