Bautista Agut 2.40, Cilic 1.70
Cilic leads their previous meetings 3-1. They last met at Wimbledon in July. Cilic won that in straight sets. He won both their indoor matches in straight sets.
They have quite similar results for the season with around 70% of matches won. Indoor results are a little better for Agut this year.
Cilic showed some excellent form in October. He reached the semi finals in Tokyo on
hard courts and the following week he was in the semi finals in Shanghai, also on hard courts. Last week after a week’s rest he made the semi finals again, this time in Basel on indoor courts losing to Del Potro. Last year in Paris he got to the semi finals losing to Isner in straight sets.
Bautista has also been in decent form in recent tournaments. In September he was in the semi finals in St Petersburg indoors and October saw him in the quarter final in Beijing and also in Basel last week. He had a comfortable win over Chardy in the last round.
This could be a decent battle. Bautista Agut can often sit back and wait for errors from his opponents. I’m not sure that will give him the match tonight but if Cilic faces enough balls the errors usually come eventually. I favour Cilic to win this one. We have a good chance of 3 sets though. I want at least 1.85 before I back him
