Djokovic leads their previous matches 23-10. Their matches on clay have been close including in the recent Madrid final.
Murray’s attitude this week has been better than Djokovic’s who has shuffled his way through the draw in Rome. Murray has not dropped a set and has looked very focused. I thought he may be ready for a rest before the French Open but if he is to keep his number 2 ranking he has to match Djokovic.
Djokovic lost a 0-6 set to Bellucci. Nadal should have beaten him and Nishikori took him to 3 sets. Murray pushed him very close last week and I think he has the edge this time. Of course it is a final and it doesn’t matter how Djokovic played during the week, when Sunday comes he raises his game.
I am on Murray for this one. It’s time to prove that he is tough enough to beat Djokovic after a string of losses.
