Kyrgios 1.75, Dolgopolov 2.30 (Kyrgios has drifted 10 ticks since this morning)
Kyrgios won their only previous meeting. That was in the Hopman Cup exhibition event in January last season. He won in straight sets on a hard court.
Much stronger results and stats this year for Kyrgios on hard courts. He has won 73% of his matches on this surface. (Dolgopolov won 45%). He has had some recent injury issues but seems to be over that. He reached the third round last week in Montreal losing out to eventual champion Alexander Zverev. This week he easily beat David Goffin in straight sets.
Dolgopolov has come through the qualifying rounds and beat in form Kevin Anderson in the main draw. He served extremely well in that match and didn’t face a single break point. All his strong results this season have been on clay. If he serves at his best he will keep the sets tight.
The match should be tight and we will get at least 1 tiebreak. Some value on Dolgopolov at the start but I favour Kyrgios to win.
Back Kyrgios above 1.90
Update: Kyrgios won 6-3, 7-6. He was broken in the 4th game but then won 5 in a row to take the set.
