ATP Wimbledon, Q Final: Querrey v Raonic

Querrey leads their previous meetings 3-1. Their last match went to Querrey by way of a walkover.  Raonic won their last played match in February 2013. He won in straight sets on an indoor hard court. Querrey won their only grass match at Wimbledon in 2012 in 4 sets.

I have been surprised by Querrey. Not only was he able to hold himself together to take advantage of a below par Djokovic but he backed that up with a straight sets win over in form Mahut.

Raonic hadn’t dropped a set until the 4th round when he started really poorly. He lost the first 2 sets to Goffin who was returning very well.  He made the required adjustments to the game plan and took the next 3 sets 6-4. Raonic has been vulnerable in his opening set in every match and in the first 3 rounds he needed a tie break to take set 1.

I think Raonic will win this. He had a real scare in the last round and he will be stronger for it. I will be very surprised if Querrey doesn’t take at least a set and he would seem to have a good chance of taking set 1..

Lay Raonic at the start. Switch to him if he loses set 1.
