Since moving onto the night shift for the Australian tournaments I have been having no problem getting to sleep after the trading session. However every day bar one I have woken up after 4 hours. I have tried to sleep again later in the day but never managed it. Today I knew I had to get more rest as just 4 hours a night over several days just isn’t enough. Thankfully I have managed an extra couple of hours although my brain feels a little “fuzzy”!
I’ll have some coffee and look to complete the post with some match picks before midnight.
Not so many short prices today so we have a few more options than last night.
Nieminen came through a tough match with Tommy Haas although he faced a match point in the 5th set.His form has been solid so far in 2013. If he stays true to his normal behaviour he is due to have a stinker of a match but I don’t think it will be today.
Dodig will need to serve well to stay with Nieminen which he is capable of. This match is Nieminen’s to win or lose.
As usual the starting price offers no value and I will be holding off getting involved until we see 1.80 . This also gives a chance to see how they start the match. If Nieminen is striking the ball well over all then 1.80 will be my trigger.
Update: Dodig won 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
Morita starts as underdog against Beck at 2.46 . Perhaps part of the reason is that Beck has won 13 of her last 14 matches.
This should be a very tight match and Beck will come through in the end but it won’t be pretty. I’ll wait to lay Morita at 1.50 . Beck’s confidence is sky high and even though a lot of recent wins were against lower ranked opponents she is drawing strength from those wins.
Update: Beck’s ground strokes looked weak right from the start. In the end it was a pretty pathetic performance.
Morita won 6-2, 6-0.
