I have had a few things to sort out this evening. When they were working out the average IQ for England it was probably looking OK. Then they got to W and Worcester. That screwed it.
There were plenty of gaps between trades for me last night so I will have time to post some thoughts on a few of tonight’s many matches as the night session progresses.
I will be in the members chatroom as usual from Midnight.
Ok first gap. here we go!
Giorgi starts at 1.60 against Sanders. She has only played one match this season which was in the qualifying rounds in Sydney. She lost in 3 sets to McHale.
Storm Sanders will have the loud support of the Aussie crowd. She did well in Hobart beating Peng and taking Flipkens to 3 sets.
If Giorgi is a little rusty which I feel she might be then we should get a healthier price on here during the opening games. I think once she gets into her swing he attacking ground strokes will get the job done.
Update: Giorgi won 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Another Aussie player Kyrgios takes on Becker.
Becker doesn’t have a good record in Australia and has lost 4 of his last 5 grand slam matches. The heat in Melbourne today will favour Kyrgios who is probably more used to it than the German!
Both Men have a big serve but Becker is better on return. I think if Becker takes an early lead it is worth backing him in this best of 5 match. He may start to wilt in the heat.
Update: Kyrgios won 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.
There doesn’t seem to be much love for Jack Sock against Kamke but I can see him keep that close. He has a decent serve and his ground strokes are much improved from last season.
Kamke starts at 1.63 and I will look to lay him below 1.40 .
Update: Sock won 7-6, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
