Australian Open -Women’s Final

08:30 –  S Williams v Henin

Its Serena Williams against a Belgian former number 1 who has come back from retirement and reached a Grand Slam final. I wonder if the baseline judge has been paid danger money. ( well ok it was a semi final in the US Open but you see the similarities!)

Head to heads are 7-6 to Williams.

Does Henin have enough left in the tank to get the better of Serena?

Really difficult to pick a winner. Henin has to be hurting and I feel if it goes to 3 sets she will struggle to keep up with Williams. However Williams has a habit of starting slowly against the higher ranked players. If that happens Henin will look to use her experience to put the American under maximum pressure and get the job done early.

You shouldn’t commit yourself too early and watching the opening games may give more indication of who is in control.

15-40 has been working well even with the top players. Also look for opportunities to use the scalping method. Don’t stay in the market for too long as there will be a lot of swings in the prices.

Update: What a match. Wouldn’t say it was a classic as there were breaks galore but it really could have gone either way.

In the first set it was possibly Henin who playing slightly better tennis although Serena was hitting the ball very well. Williams finally got her nose infront and took the first set.

In the second there were break opportunities but they moved to 3-3. then henin stepped up a gear and Serena seemed to go to sleep. Henin took the next 3 games to get to 1 set all.

In the 3rd set Serena won an early break of serve. Henin broke back straight away but she had run out of steam as I suspected she might.

Williams ran away with the set to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

I didn’t trade the match particulary well and by the time Henin had levelled at 1 set all I wasn’t in good shape. I relied on Williams being much stronger in a deciding set and bought myself out of trouble. Not a good tactic as if it had gone wrong I was risking a large chunk of my trading bank. So I came away with a profit of £68 but wasn’t at all happy with how I got there.
