Chakvetadze v Kirilenko
Rankings are 50 and 52 and the market has them at 1.75 and 2.24 .
Kirilenko should be able to make a game of this. Chakvetadze hasn’t played a tournament since Wimbledon so may be short of competitive match practice. Kirilenko has been playing well on clay but this tournament is on hard courts and that suits Chakvetadze a little more.
Perfect scalping match. There could well be plenty of swings and 15-40 or the scalping method will work well.
Hard to pick a winner but i think lack of match practice will allow Kirilenko to get off to a faster start in the first set.
Update:As expected Kirilenko made the slightly better start, winning the first set 6-4. Chakvetadze’s experience brought her the second set 7-5 and they fought to the bitter end in the 3rd with Kirilenko taking the match on a tie break.
Brilliant match for scalpers but a nightmare for anyone who picked a player to back from the start 🙂
