14:30 -Nadal v Ferrer
Rankings are 1 and 6. Head to heads are 13-4 to Nadal.
Ferrer has won just 1 match in their last 10. That was in January’s Australian Open this year when Nadal was a long way short of his best form. Nadal’s play this week has been of a very high standard. He had the occasional lapse like any player does and was broken twice in his semi final with Dodig. he hasn’t really looked in any danger so far this tournament.
It will take an exceptional clay court player to trouble Nadal. Ferrer is probably the only player able to take to a clay court with a glimpse of hope of winning against the world number 1 at the moment. He didn’t seem to be hampered by his knee injury in his victory over Almagro. He started with tape on his leg but soon took that off. Hopefully he will be fit enough to make a match of this final.
The head to head doesn’t make his chances look too good but surely Nadal is worth a lay at 1.13?
They played in the Final of Monte Carlo and it was a close match with ended 6-4, 7-5 to Nadal. In that match Nadal was broken twice and Ferrer 4 times.
I am looking forward to watching this one 🙂
Update: I think Nadal’s price only went up to around 1.24.
Nadal won 6-2, 6-4.
