14:00 – Cilic v Youzhny
Rankings are 11 and 15. Head to heads are 3-0 to Youzhny ( all on hard courts ).
Both players had tough semi finals but prior to that Youzhny has dealt with his opponents more convincingly than Cilic.
Youzhny struggled to find his touch in the eary games yesterday and his drop shot didn’t get going until late in the set.
Cilic also made a slow start losing the opening set but came back strong to take the next 2 fairly convincingly.
Both men are excellent on serve and as they start pretty much even on Betfair each service game won will bring a nice return for serve-backers.
This is a tough game to call and if both serves are working well we could see at least 1 tie break. Their recent results are more or less on par.
Either back Cilic or both players on serve.
Update: Great match! Youzhny was well on top in the first set and Cilic’s serve was terrible.
In the second Cilic won an early break of serve and his own serve started to work a little better. Youzhny broke back but Cilic broke him again to take the set.
In the third it was going with serve until Youzhny broke for a 3-2 lead. He held on to the end to take the title.
Youzhny won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
