BNP Paribas masters 2015 – Monday

14:30 – Granollers v Bedene

Granollers won their only previous match. That was in February last season. He won in 3 sets on clay.

I’m still not happy with Granollers for his pathetic display in Valencia. His serve has been better in his qualifying matches and he won both in straight sets.

Bedene beat Janowicz in the qualifying rounds. I’d expect Bedene to get into a winning position but wouldn’t trust him to hold on to it.

Three sets look likely though Granollers has a poor record when losing the 1st set. He has lost 44 of his last 50 when he lost set 1.

Back Bedene above 2.00

18:30 – Paire v Monfils

Monfils reached the semi finals in Vienna where he lost a tight match to Ferrer. He has a decent record at this tournament. He reached the final twice (2009, 2010). He got to the third round last year losing to Djokovic.

Paire’s performances last week were a little half hearted at times. He needed 3 sets to get past Gombos and then lost to eventual champion Sousa in 3 sets.

Back Monfils above 1.70
