BNP Paribas Masters – Wed

10:00 – Karlovic v Soderling

Rankings are 39 and 10. Head to heads are  2-1 to Karlovic although they haven’t played for 12 months.

A clash of two big servers. The big difference between them is that Soderling has a much better all-round game. He’s not just a big server.

Karlovic wins 92% of his service games and Soderling wins 86% of his.

Soderling’s recent form has been the better of the two and I would expect him to win what will be a tight match.

Back Soderling on serve.

Update: It was tight! Soderling won 6-4, 7-6

14:00 – F Gonzalez v Isner

Rankings are 11 and 35. Head to heads are 1-0 to Isner which was earlier this month.

Gonzalez had hopes of reaching the World Tour Finals but it isn’t going to happen. His temperament can be suspect if things arent going his way and add that to the fact that he will probably have a few aches and pains after a long season, if Isner can get his nose in front it could be a quick match.

You could wait for the break ( I expect Isner to get it) before backing him and greening at the end of the first set.

Alternatively, back Isner on serve.

Gonzalez is 1.53 on betfair. If you like to lay favourites then this would be a good match to use that strategy on.

Update: I underestimated Gonzalez. He’s still fighting ( although i still think that if he went behind he would give up!)

He won 7-5, 7-6
