Brisbane International – Wednesday

9:00 – Baghdatis v Kubut

Rankings are 20 and 70. Head to heads are 1-0 to Kubot (on clay in 2009).

Baghdatis has been working on his fitness in the off-season and looks energised.

Kubot is perhaps better in doubles and usually struggles against the top players.

Baggy can start slow as he did against Serra but I expect a straight sets win here today. His first serve percentage was low at 50% in the last match and that will need to improve as the week progresses.

Baghdatis has too much experience to lose this one ( famous last words! )

Wait for a couple of games before getting involved and if Baghdatis serves ok back him to green up after the set. If Kubot takes the opening set then back Baghdatis at the start of the second.

Update: Baggy broke in the very first game and it was a very one sided match.

Baghdatis won 6-2, 6-2.
