11:30 – Malisse v Phau
Rankings are 60 and 102. Head to heads are 5-0 to Malisse.
Malisse in great form this week and also serving well at over 87% of service games won.
Phau’s service holds have been just under 70%.
Phau started slowly against Gasquet losing the opening set 1-6 but came back strong to win with 2 tie break sets.
I expect Malisse to get off to a quicker start and to take the opening set. Phau showed he won’t be giving up if he goes a set down and the second set could be tighter but I expect malisse to take it.
Back Malisse on serve or from the start.
Update: Malisse won 6-0, 6-2.
15:00 – Tipsarevic v Nishikori
Rankings are 49 and 98. They haven’t played before.
Nishikori looked totally knackered right from the start of his match with Falla. He was a shadow of the player who beat Cilic earlier in the week. That match will have drained his energy.
Falla was outplaying the tired Jap and would have taken the match easily ( he was a set and 2 breaks up) but he was unhappy with an umpire call and sulked right to the end of the match.
Tipsarevic has looked sharp this week and although he made hard work of the second set against Kudryavtsev the result was never really in much doubt.
Nishikori hasn’t had time to replenish the enegy levels so I expect Tipsarevic to walk over him in straight sets.
Back Tipsarevic on serve or from the start.
Update: Tipsarevic won 6-4, 6-4.
