08:30 – Rezai v Martinez Sanchez
Rankings are 44 and 30. They have never met.
Martinez Sanchez should be too strong for her opponent but she is very inconsistent. She has the ability to be much higher up the rankings but it seems to be the mental side of the game that eludes her.
Rezai can turn in the occasional decent performance but also lacks consistency.
Sounds perfect for 15-40 to me 🙂
Update: I was listening to the commentators before the match and they were raving about how well Martinez Sanchez had played yesterday. They also said that Rezai was struggling with her serve, especially the second serve.
At that time M S was available to back at 1.69 . I hadn’t been able to watch or trade a match all week due to various reasons so I took their word for it. I backed M S from the start. When she was broken in the opening game I wasn’t too happy but from the comments before the match I expected her to break back straight away. Rezai then held her serve either to love or to 15 and was being very aggressive and hitting the ball well. I switched sides just before Rezai broke for a second time and sat it out.
The only bit of excitement after that was when we had a power cut half way through the second set. I was recording the match but that put paid to that 🙁
Rezai won 6-2, 6-3
