10:00 – Zakopalova v Cirstea
Rankings are 51 and 63. They haven’t played before.
Cirstea had a tough three setter with Srebotnik yesterday whereas Zakopalova played her last game 2 days ago which was an easy straight sets win over Malek. That may make a difference in energy levels today.
Zakopalova hasn’t enjoyed much success since reaching the 4th round at Wimbledon with first round exits in Istanbul and also the Gastein Ladies.
Cirstea reached the quarter finals in Istanbul but her form wasn’t great up to that point.
Looking at stats over the last 3 months neither player has served particularly well. They both hold serve 61% of the time. First serve percentages are 57% and 55% respectively and both win under 50% of points on second serve.
Break points saved are 52% and 55%. This looks like a game with many swings in price.
Backing the receiver is an option as is scalping. With a poor break points saved performance from both, the 15-40 is also a good way to trade this.
I give a slight edge to Zakopalova.
Update: Zakopalova won 6-1, 7-5.
