12:30 – Goffin v Edmund
This is a must win match for Goffin. Belgium’s best hope is for Goffin to win his matches and for the tie to be settled in the doubles.
Goffin has been in decent form towards the end of the season. He has had limited success on the clay in 2015 but his last clay event saw him reach the final in Gstaad in July.
Edmund has had more recent matches on clay and won a Challenger title in Argentina earlier this month. He beat South Americans in every round and took out Berlocq in the final.
Home advantage will help Goffin. This is Edmund’s first experience of the Davis Cup atmosphere.
Goffin is a little too low at 1.13 but I expect him to win this rubber. I don’t expect it to be in straight sets though. if Edmund can fins a win then he puts Britain in a very strong position with two Andy Murray singles matches to come.
Most likely outcome is Goffin in 4 sets.
