Delray Beach International – Monday

20:00 – Serra v Harrison

Rankings are 72 and 150. They have never played.

Serra is more at home on clay courts and he hasn’t been past the second round this season.

Being much lower ranked, Harrison plays a lot of his tennis on the Challenger tour. He won the recent event in Honalulu. He plays better in America which explains his favourite status on Betfair.

Serra holds serve 79% and Harrison 75% so I think today will be more about return of serve. Harrison is well ahead in this category.

Either back Harrison on serve or back him from the start. If backing from the start green up after a break and the following hold of serve.

Update: Harrison took the opening set but Serra took the match 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

22:30  – Blake v Becker

Rankings are 144 and 58. Head to heads are 3-0 to Blake with their last match being in July 2010.

Blake has dropped down the rankings quite steadily over the last 12 months but usually plays well on home soil. He reached a quarter final in Stockholm towards the end of 2010 but has no success to speak of yet this year.

Becker is a very talented hard court player but just hasn’t fulfulled his potential. He beat Gulbis in the Oz Open but Gulbis was far from full fitness. He hasn’t won a match since.

Blake will be encouraged by the loud American support and I expect his big serve and ground strokes to be too much for the German.

Back Blake on serve.

Update: A very tight firsts et saw Blake get a late break. He won 7-5, 6-4.
