The blog was down for a while last night. There was some conflict with a plugin.

Today’s match card actually looks pretty good so lets hope we dont get any more rain!

Pavlyuchenkova had a long first match this week with several delays due to the weather. She has so far handles the issues well and came through a potentially tricky match with Amanmuradova in straight sets.

Today she meets Barty who has won both her matches in straight sets. Those were her only wins of the year yet we can back Pav at 1.45 .Barty may give Pavlyuchenkova a few problems but I’d expect experience to win the day.

I will wait for a higher price on Pavlyuchenkova of around 1.70 before backing.

In Dubai Federer takes on Berdych. Fed leads the head to heads 11-5 although it was Berdych who won their most recent match which was at the US Open last year.

Both men are in great form. Berdych has been serving extremely well and Federer has looked his usual dominant self except in the opening set of the week where he went to sleep against Jaziri and lost it 5-7. He won the next 2 sets 6-0, 6-2.

Federer handles the big servers as well as anyone and Berdych will need his ground strokes to be top notch today if he is to stay in the match. I expect the match to be tight so there is a very good chance we see a higher price on Federer than his SP of 1.39 .

Even though Federer’s record against Berdych is excellent there haven’t been many straight sets wins so don’t be surprised to see a 3 set match today. Berdych’s game is probably as solid as it can be at the moment.

If Berdych is to win today I feel he needs the first set.. The obvious choice for the expected winner is Federer but he will have to work very hard for a win today.
