I’ve got some family stuff going on at the moment and haven’t had a great deal of sleep. I aren’t motivated to make a long post so will simply write some basic thoughts on some of today’s matches.
Dodig has played some aggressive tennis this week which worked well against Davydenko and Cilic. I’m sure he’ll try the same against Dogolpolov but I think that will play into Dolgo’s hands.
Oprandi has served well and hasn’t lost a set against 3 respectable opponents. Pavlyuchenkova had a real scrap with Vesnina with the last 2 sets being tie breaks.
I think this goes to 3 sets with Pav winning it.
Tommy Haas is a massive favourite against Mayer although my selection process suggests Mayer takes it to 3 sets. I have to say I will be surprised if that turns out to be correct. Wait for a higher price on Haas.
Kanepi will probably start slow against Suarez Navarro but it should turn out to be a very close match. A good chance of 3 sets and I favour the Spaniard.
Fognini wasn’t impressive against Lorenzi so I don’t expect him to have an easy day with Carreno Busta. C Busta’s serve was awful in his first set with Goffin and he only won his second hold of the match mid way through set 2.
The result of this is down to Fognini’s play. If he can find some of the form he showed in Monte Carlo then he takes this is 2 tight sets but I think he will need 3 today.
Tipsarevic and Brands looks like it could well go to 3 sets. Tipsarevic has to find his form eventually. but there’s no reason why it should be today. Brands to win in 3.
